Auburn University closed Tuesday

Auburn University will remain closed Tuesday because of the potential for dangerous road conditions tonight.
Classes and normal university operations will resume Wednesday.
The closure also will allow students time to return to campus if they were unable to return before the winter storm, said Mike Clardy (an Auburn spokesman).
Students who are experiencing travel delays because of flight cancellations and other (weather-related) problems should contact their professors by email to discuss their situation.

Auburn, Alabama – Auburn University officials announced early this afternoon that the university, which closed today because of wintry weather, will be closed again Tuesday, the day after the BCS Championship game.
In a news release, officials said Auburn would close ‘due to the potential for continuing dangerous road conditions tonight.’ A winter storm struck across the South on Sunday into Monday, causing hazardous road conditions and canceling or delaying many flights.
Officials said classes and normal university operations will resume Wednesday.
‘This will also allow students time to return to campus if they were unable to return before the winter storm’ – university spokesman Mike Clardy said in a news release. ‘Students experiencing travel delays, due to flight cancellations and other weather-related problems, should contact their professors by email to discuss their situation.’
Students and employees were urged to check the Auburn University website for further updates.

Concerns about a potential ice storm in the Auburn, Alabama, area Monday have prompted Auburn University officials to close campus for the day and cancel all on-campus viewing parties for the Bowl Championship Series title game Monday night against Oregon.
Classes for the second semester were scheduled to start Monday, but a news release on the university website advised students who had not come back to campus to stay home and not return to Auburn ‘until it is safe to do so.’
A release posted by Auburn around 4 p.m. ET reads in part:
Auburn University is currently under an ICE STORM WARNING until 6:00 p.m. Monday. The National Weather Service continues to forecast one quarter to over one half inch of ice accumulation for the Auburn area as a result of this storm. Governor Riley has declared a STATE OF EMERGENCY for all of Alabama due to this unfolding winter weather event. All forms of winter precipitation have begun to fall across western Alabama. Winter precipitation is expected to start in our area shortly.
Please take this dangerous storm seriously. Significant power outages and hazardous road conditions are expected. Travel is strongly discouraged. Please keep abreast of changing conditions and keep your safety as your top priority.
