Peter Fonda finds dead body
Veteran actor Peter Fonda reportedly discovered a dead body in a car on Hollywood’s Sunset Boulevard.
The actor – best remembered for his role in ‘Easy Rider’ and as son of screen legend Henry Fonda and brother of fellow actor Jane – called 911 on Wednesday after spotting a car parked on the side of the road.
TMZ reports that Fonda got out of his car to check the situation and found a man slumped in the front seat. Police, again according to TMZ, are labeling the death a suicide and say the body had been in the car for at least three days prior to its discovery by (not Captain America) Fonda.
Peter Fonda, the American actor best known for his role in 1969s counterculture movie ‘Easy Rider’, yesterday discovered a dead body in a parked car in Los Angeles.
Fonda, 70, immediately contacted the police, who are investigating the death. The actor was not being considered as a suspect – said Sergeant Carlton Cook of the West Los Angeles community police station.
According to the gossip site TMZ, which first reported the incident, Fonda got out of his own car and found the man slumped over in the front seat of another vehicle. The son of Henry Fonda and younger brother of Jane, the actor also took writing duties on ‘Easy Rider’, which was directed by his friend Dennis Hopper and introduced the world to a young Jack Nicholson.
Fonda also played the lead in the 1966 Roger Corman film ‘The Wild Angels’, in which he delivered the famous monologue sampled by Primal Scream on their 1991 track ‘Loaded’. More recently he appeared with Russell Crowe and Christian Bale in James Mangold’s 2007 remake of the 1957 western ’3:10 to Yuma’.
One of the odder stories to get attention late Wednesday was TMZ.com’s report that it had been told by ‘sources’ that actor Peter Fonda discovered a dead body in Los Angeles yesterday afternoon.
The Associated Press now writes that Los Angeles police confirm the story. Sgt. Carlton Cook at the West Los Angeles Community Police Station tells the AP that Fonda called police after seeing a car parked on the side of Sunset Boulevard, a man’s body inside.
According to TMZ, authorities believe the man may have committed suicide and that his body might have been there for a couple days.
Fonda, the son of Henry and brother of Jane, is probably best known for his role as ‘Captain America’ (or ‘Wyatt’) in the 1969 movie ‘Easy Rider’. He turns 71 next month.
