Celebrity Apprentice 2011
David Cassidy became the first cast sent home on the new season of ‘The Celebrity Apprentice’ because his biggest contribution was a 1,000 dollars piece of pizza bought by his daughter Katie Cassidy. The first task from Donald Trump was to run a pizzeria and sell as many slices as possible for charity.
Richard Hatch of ‘Survivor’ fame stepped up as the first Project Manager to the men’s team which is named Backbone. Star Jones took the lead in the women team, called ASAP. Cassidy immediately got in Hatch’s way when he fed Hatch with suggestions while the project leader gave out orders to the team. “David, be quiet for one second” – Hatch snapped.
While Lil Jon and John Rich pulled big money for the team, Cassidy failed to contribute much, leading to the team’s loss. Team Backbone raised just over 54,000 dollars while ASAP managed to rake in more than 115,000 dollars in donations.
Trump thought Cassidy was having a hard time and fired him. After the boardroom, Cassidy said: “Richard Hatch is disrespectful. I probably could have punched him but that’s not my style.”
Oscar winning actress Marlee Matlin joins Celebrity Apprentice 2011.
Marlee Matlin is one of the most decorated members of cast of this new season of ‘The Celebrity Apprentice’ 2011 which airs tonight at 9PM on NBC. Marlee will be putting her skills to work competing on the show as she tries to earn money for the Starkey Hearing Foundation. As far as I am aware she is the first person to appear on ‘The Celebrity Apprentice’ that has a disability. Marlee, for those who don’t know, is deaf. She also happens to be an Oscar-winning actress. She won the Academy Award for Best Actress and Golden Globe Award for Best Actress for her role in ‘Children of a Lesser God’.
Having appeared in more than 20 movies and TV shows, the Apprentice’s Marlee Matlin has been on everything from the hit show The West Wing, to Seinfeld to the comedy ‘My Name is Earl’. Marlee has received an honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters from Gallaudet University in 1987. She is now on the university’s Board of Trustees. Marlee Matlin is married and has four children. It will be interesting to see how well she is able to communicate with her fellow Apprentice cast mates especially when she takes her turn as project manager. I have a feeling she will do pretty well on this season of Celebrity Apprentice.
The show’s season 11 kicked off with Trump sending the fiery cast on a mission to cook up pizzas for charity.
The men’s team unanimously chose Hatch as project manager of Team Backbone, while the ladies chose Star Jones to run the show of Team A.S.A.P.-Artists, Singers, Authors and Professionals with a Purpose. Thankfully, the men ignored Gary Busey’s name suggestion of ‘Team Sperm Farmers.’
And while the feud between Star and Nene Leakes has yet to unfold, the tension between Cassidy and Hatch surfaced when Cassidy kept trying to offer suggestions while Hatch barked out orders to the group at the pizza parlor.
“David, be quiet for one second” – Hatch snapped and pushed Cassidy out of the way after he pulled out his phone during the meeting.
But that wasn’t the only downer of Cassidy’s day.
While teammates like Lil’ Jon and John Rich received sizeable charitable donations from friends, Cassidy’s only big get was from his daughter, ‘Gossip Girl’ actress Katie Cassidy, who bought a pie for 1,000 dollars.
Alas, not even Rich’s big-budget donations (or Busey’s ‘pepperoni prophet’ wackiness) were a match for Team ASAP.
Niki Taylor’s pizza slinging skills, coupled with Team ASAP’s big budget donations (Star’s friends donated 40,000 dollars for pizza) garnered 170,000 dollars for charity, making them the winning team for the evening.
