Robert De Niro and wife Grace Hightower have announced that they have welcomed a baby girl (who was born via surrogate) to their family.
The new addition to the De Niro family was born via surrogate and named Helen Grace. A second child for the couple who have been married for almost 14 years, the baby weighed in at 7 lbs., 2 oz. at time of birth. She joins older brother, 13-year-old Elliot. No further details about the birth were provided.
68-year-old De Niro himself has four other children from previous relationships. He has a 35-year-old son, Raphael, from his marriage to Diahnne Abbott, and adopted Diahnne’s daughter, 40-year-old Drena. He also has 16-year-old twin sons Julian and Aaron (with ex-girlfriend Toukie Smith).
Speaking about his approach to parenthood in 2009, the actor said – “One of the most important lessons I’ve learned in my years as a father is to keep the lines of communication open with my kids.
“I care deeply about all of them, and I have made a conscious effort to talk to and to listen to them… not to lecture them, but to tell them things I think are important for them to know.”

The actor’s spokesperson confirmed the news in a statement to OnTheRedCarpet.com on Friday, Dec. 23.
“A daughter has been born to Robert and Grace Hightower De Niro” – he said. “The healthy 7 pound, 2 ounce girl, named Helen Grace Hightower De Niro, was born through a surrogate mother.”
Further details about the birth were not provided, for privacy reasons. The baby is the couple’s second child together. De Niro and his wife, who is 56 years old, also have a 13-year-old son named Elliot.
De Niro, an Oscar winner known for movies such as “The Godfather: Part II” and the recently-released, celebrity-packed romantic comedy “New Year’s Eve,” married Hightower in 1997. She is his second wife.
The actor has four children from previous relationships. He and his first wife, Diahnne Abbott, are parents to a 35-year-old son named Raphael, who works as a real estate broker. The actor also adopted Abbott’s daughter, Drena (40). De Niro has 16-year-old twin sons, Aaron and Julian, with ex-girlfriend Toukie Smith, a former model.

The 68-year-old actor did not make any comments in the press, but reporters at Us have found out that the DeNiro and wife Grace Hightower De Niro (56) will name the baby Helen. The two have one more son – Elliot, who was born on March 18, 1998.
DeNiro’s love life has been rather tumultuous. In 1997, he married Grace Hightower whom he divorced in 1999. The divorce was never pronounced and in 2004 they decided to renew their vows.
This wasn’t the only troublesome relationship that the “New Year’s Eve” actor has had. He was also romantically involved with Diahnne Abbott with whom he has a son, Raphael. The Oscar winner also adopted Diahnne’s daughter from a previous relationship, Drena.
Wait, there is more to it! The actor was also involved in a relationship with former model Toukie Smith. Their love was so big that the couple decided to conceive a child with the help of the in vitro fertilization. In the end, DeNiro and Toukie were blessed with twins who were delivered by a surrogate mother in 1995. The children’s names are Julian and Aaron.
Normally, we would be outraged by the sight of so many affairs and children news coming from an A class actor like Robert De Niro.
