Bowl Games for 2010
Sunday night was stressful for college football fans as they waited to see where their favorite teams would play this upcoming bowl season. ESPN finally revealed all of the match ups late Sunday for the 2010 bowl games and the BCS bowl games at the start of 2011.
The main concern for many fans was which two teams would be playing in the national championship game. That question was answered on Saturday when both Oregon and Auburn survived their last tests of the year. The Tigers and Ducks will meet on January 10th – with the winner becoming the new national champion.
From there, it was a matter of matching up the most compelling games that the remaining bowls could find. For the Rose Bowl – that meant bringing Wisconsin and TCU. The Orange Bowl secured Virginia Tech and Stanford, while the Fiesta Bowl picked Oklahoma, but was stuck with Connecticut. One of the more intriguing match ups will come in the Sun Bowl. Miami and Notre Dame have built a long rivalry through the eighties and the early nineties. The teams stopped playing each other when the rivalry grew too heated. But they have accepted bids to face each other in the Sun Bowl.
It was a crazy up and down year for the Pac-10 this season as Oregon and Stanford dominated, Arizona hung around, and most everybody else circled the drain. The conference was able to get only four bowl eligible teams this year and with the announcement of the 2010 bowl game schedule, the Pac-10 will only send four teams across the country. The four schools: Oregon, Stanford, Arizona and Washington.
Arizona State finished with six wins but needed seven due to the fact that they played two teams in 1-AA (Football Championship Series).
The announcements came down earlier this evening and here are your Pac-10 bowl matchups and dates (all times pacific):
