Gloria Cain speaks out about her husband
Herman Cain’s wife said she doesn’t believe the sexual harassment allegations against her husband because “he totally respects women.”
Gloria Cain made the remarks in an interview to air Monday on Fox’s “On the Record with Greta Van Susteren.”
“I know that’s not the person he is. He totally respects women” – Gloria Cain said.
Last week, during an appearance on ABC’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” Cain said he still has the support of his wife.
“My own wife said that I wouldn’t do anything as silly as what that lady was talking about, because she does know me” – Cain said about one of the accusers, Sharon Bialek.
“I’ve been married for 43 years to the same woman and I’m proud of it.”
At least four women have accused the GOP presidential hopeful of sexual harassment.
In a statement last week, Cain campaign spokesman J.D. Gordon said: “There have been a number of interesting revelations that the public has learned about these women over the past few days. We hope the court of public opinion will take this into consideration as these women continue to try and keep this story alive.”
The attorney for a woman who accused Cain of sexual harassment in the late 1990s said Thursday his client is not prepared to hold a news conference about the allegations until all the other reported victims agree to join her.
Joel Bennett said his client, Karen Kraushaar, has tried to reach two other women who also claim they were sexually harassed by Cain during his 1996-99 stint as head of the National Restaurant Association.
Another accuser (Bialek) has agreed to attend a joint news conference with Kraushaar, but without the participation of all the alleged victims, Kraushaar doesn’t want to proceed, Bennett told reporters.

Herman Cain’s wife says the claims of sex harassment against the GOP presidential candidate don’t ring true because he “totally respects women.”
Gloria Cain told Fox News’ Greta Van Susteren – “I’m thinking he would have to have a split personality to do the things that were said.”
In an interview to be aired Monday during the show “On the Record,” Gloria Cain said she can’t believe the claims he harassed women when he led the National Restaurant Association in the 1990s.
“To hear such graphic allegations and know that that would have been something that was totally disrespectful of her as a woman and I know that’s not the person he is” – she said. “He totally respects women.”
Excerpts of the interview were released Sunday.
Four women have now accused Herman Cain of sexually harassing them when he led the National Restaurant Association. He has denied wrongdoing and has been trying to move forward in his presidential campaign.
Cain’s wife of 43 years is often described as “gentle” and “the nicest woman you’ll ever meet.”
The two were married in 1968, have two adult children (a daughter, Melanie, and a son, Vincent) and grandchildren.

In her first televised interview ever, Gloria Cain, wife of Republican presidential hopeful Herman Cain, sat down with her husband and said that the allegations of sexual harassment against him don’t square with the man she knows.
“To hear such graphic allegations and know that that would have been something that was totally disrespectful of her as a woman and I know that’s not the person he is” – she said, according to partial transcripts of an interview with Greta Van Susteren that will air on Fox News Monday night. “He totally respects women.”
Cain, who has been married for 43 years to the former CEO of Godfather’s Pizza, has been silent for much of her husband’s race for the White House. Her last public appearance came in May when her husband announced his candidacy.
“I’m thinking he would have to have a split personality to do the things that were said” – Cain said of the allegations against her husband.
Over the last two weeks, as the Republican frontrunner has battled allegations that he sexually harassed four women, Herman Cain has often mentioned his wife, saying that she is “200 percent” supportive of him and “200 percent” still his wife.
The couple have two children, a son, Vincent and a daughter, Melanie — Susteren also interviewed them, and they said that their father has a lot to say, and that they are “immune to it,” at this point.
Like their mother, they have also stayed out of the limelight.
In acknowledging that one woman reached a settlement agreement with the National Restaurant Association, where he served as president in the 1990′s, Cain said he mentioned to one of his accusers that she was about the same height as his wife, a comment that made it into the sexual harassment complaint, Cain said.
Cain’s wife, who is said by friends to be a quiet woman, and who is a registered Democrat according to her husband, has steered clear of the spotlight and has not assumed the traditional role of candidate’s wife. Cain has said that his wife has been outraged by the claims against her husband. When Gloria Cain watched accuser Sharon Bialek’s news conference last Monday, she told her husband that the man that Bialek described sounded nothing like the man she’s known for 45 years.
