Sean Avery in “Dancing with the Stars”

Sean Avery was voted off “Dancing with the Stars” for pissing off the show’s producers.
Radar reported that “Viewers were shocked on March 24 when the hit ABC show eliminated two teams from the competition instead of one, but an insider exclusively tells RadarOnline.com that a blow-up between Avery (33) and one of the show’s executive producers contributed to his demise.”

Gwar founder and singer Dave Brockie dies at 50

Dave Brockie, who as “Oderus Urungus” fronted the alien-costumed heavy metal band GWAR during graphic and fake-blood-soaked stage shows for more than three decades, has died. He was 50.
Officers were called to Brockie’s home Sunday evening and found the singer dead inside the home – Richmond police spokeswoman Dionne Waugh said Monday. Detectives don’t suspect foul play at this time, and the medical examiner’s office will determine cause of death, Waugh said.
The band founded in 1984 is known for its comically grotesque costumes, stage antics and vulgar lyrics. GWAR was nominated for a Grammy Award for best long-form music video in 1993 for “Phallus in Wonderland” but lost to “Diva” by Annie Lennox. It also was nominated for best metal performance for “S.F.W.” in 1996 but lost to “Happiness In Slavery” by Nine Inch Nails.

Jimmy Fallon’s “Tonight Show” debut

Jimmy Fallon (the new host of the “Tonight” show) introduced himself to viewers on Monday like a freshly licensed doctor taking over a retiring gerontologist’s practice.
Mister Fallon didn’t smirk or make sarcastic asides. He gently and earnestly explained that he is 39, lives in New York City, and has a wife and a new baby. He pointed out his parents in the studio audience and also how the monologue works. He choked up a little when talking about the “Tonight” show legacy. “I just want to do the best I can” – he said. “And take care of the show for a while.”

Sochi Olympics and Google Doodle

Thursday’s Google Doodle is a not-so-subtle pre-Olympics shot at Russia’s less-than-stellar record on gay rights. The doodle (which is also featured on Google’s .ru Russia address) features a series of winter athletes set in rainbow colors, with a pointed quote from the Olympic Charter below Google’s search bar. Clicking the doodle itself also points users to the Olympic Charter.
