Alison Brie and Gillian Jacobs dress up
The Emmy nominations came out this morning, and once again, Community got screwed. The local college send-up has spent the last two years morphing into one of the sharpest, funniest and best written comedies on television, but still, many critics have been noticeably late to the party. Whether it be the subject matter or from living in the shadows of ’30 Rock’, ‘The Office’ and ‘Parks And Recreation’, Community remains a hidden treasure not watched by nearly enough people. Maybe this picture will help.
Female leads Alison Brie and Gillian Jacobs stopped by the GQ Offices for a photo shoot with a decidedly throwback feel. Doing their best Bettie Page impersonations, the ladies stripped down into pin-up attire and commenced with the spankings.
Scandalous photos run the gamut from tasteless to classy, but whenever the term pin-up is involved, you can usually count on it being good clean fun. In this case, it was sexy fun, but now that you’ve seen it, you no longer have any excuse not to watch Community. Who wouldn’t want to see that pair wax hilarious on screen for a half hour alongside Soup host Joel McHale, comedy legend Chevy Chase, comedy legend in the making Donald Glover and weirdly autistic Danny Pudi.
One stars as a straight laced studious college student, while the other plays a fearless former billboard vandal on NBC cult comedy series Community.
But actresses Alison Brie and Gillian Jacobs are showing a whole different side to themselves in a new racy photograph for this month’s GQ magazine.
Brunette actress Alison (27) and blonde Gillian (28) stripped down to some revealing underwear and struck a rather suggestive pose for an inside shot in the magazine’s comedy issue.
Both stars showed off their slim figures with Alison sporting a black lacy bra, matching knickers and stockings, teamed with black heels.
With her hand on her cast mate’s back, Gillian wore a white bra and chunky white shoes.
And both actresses found the saucy shoot more tricky than they thought.
“With a shoot like this, you’re negotiating these positions together,” Alison, who plays Annie Edison, tells the magazine.
Gillian adds: “The next day we were texting each other: ‘Are you sore, too?”‘
But Gillian’s alter ego Britta Perry was seen embarking on a lesbian kiss in one scene on the show.
“The episode where I made out with my supposed lesbian friend was the first time I’d kissed a girl,” she tells GQ. “I was terrified.”
Community, which also stars Chevy Chase, Hangover star Ken Jeong and stand-up comedian Joel McHale, revolves around the often eccentric students and professors at Greendale Community College.
Its pop culture references and parodies have earned it a cult following amongst fans.
The show was renewed for a third season by network NBC, which will air in the U.S. this September.
There is a moment in just about every workday when we come across something sexy, gratuitous and completely pointless that we wish we could post but don’t under the auspices of there being nothing lesbian about it and often there being no redeeming value. Well, we at SheWired have made an executive decision to just throw any of our pseudo-feminist caution to the wind and to just post our favorite shot of the day, whether it be sexy, salacious, or just because…
The two cutest and arguably funniest members of NBC’s Community, Alison Brie and Gillian Jacobs, do their very best Bettie Page impressions in a retro-lingerie shoot for GQ. And these actresses aren’t afraid to work for the best shot. We of course realize this is exploitative but the actresses are totally in on the joke.
“With a shoot like this” – Brie (left) tells the mag, “you’re negotiating these positions together: ‘Can you move your crotch a little to the left? Really get it up there.’ ”
“The next day we were texting each other” – Jacobs elaborates. ” ‘Are you sore, too?’”
Admit it, several hours of bending and posing, while making sure to suck in and flex, and look your best/sexy/smize or whatever Tyra is always preaching on ANTM, all at the same time would be exhausting.
Jacobs recalled a new experience in the course of filming Community – “The episode where I made out with my supposed lesbian friend was the first time I’d kissed a girl. I was terrified.”
Brie had a brilliant thought – “Aw, Gil! You should have let me know! We could have practiced!”
