Casting of Dancing with the Stars 2011

Tonight, ABC released the official cast list for season 13 of ‘Dancing With the Stars’. Some rumors have been circulating the internet in recent weeks. Rumors like Rob Kardashian would be joining the cast this season, or that former politician Anthony Weiner would be strapping on his dancing shoes in hopes of redeeming his public image (hey, it’s worked for some past ‘Dancing With the Stars’ contestants). Dina Lohan – Lindsey Lohan’s fame-seeking mother – was also reportedly overheard saying she might appear, while rumors circulated that Jersey Shore’s Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi might be signing up or that Chaz Bono would appear.
Singing/actress Christina Milian and LA Laker Ron Artest were also rumored to be in the running for the season 13 cast. Other names circulating the rumor mill for the upcoming season included Khloe Kardashian, Nick Jonas, Queen Latifah, Donnie Wahlberg, Bridget Mindler, Melissa Gilbert, Regis Philbin and Mike Tyson. In other words, names were being thrown around left and right as to who would appear on ‘Dancing With the Stars’.
Well, enough gossip, because ABC has announced the official line-up for the upcoming season. Did any of the gossip turn out to be true? We have all the answers for you.
Season 13 of Dancing With the Stars will premiere on Monday, September 19 from 8:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. ET. On Tuesday, September 20, there will be two hours of original programming, beginning with ‘Dancing with the Stars: Meet the Cast’ (8:00-9:00 p.m. ET), followed by the premiere of ‘Dancing with the Stars the Results Show’ (9:00-10:00 p.m. ET).

David Arquette is set to battle it out with celebrities including Ricki Lake, Chaz Bono and George Clooney’s ex Elisabetta Canalis on the new season of the hit reality show Dancing with the Stars.
Singer Chynna Phillips, soccer star Hope Solo and reality TV regulars Kristin Cavallari and Rob Kardashian will also don their dancing shoes for season 13 which kicks off on September 19th.
Other stars set to show off their fancy footwork include legal analyst Nancy Grace, NBA athlete Ron Artest, fashion expert Carson Kressley, actor J.R. Martinez.
Cher’s daughter Bono (who recently underwent sex change treatment to become a man) tells People.com: “Doing this show is an opportunity for me to reach a larger more mainstream audience with just a simple message of being transgender is okay and not something to be scared of.”
Arquette is looking forward to the challenge, but admits his daughter Coco was wary of him signing up.
He adds: “She said – ‘Well, my initial thought is no.’ I talked to her recently after I decided to do it and she said: ‘I’m all right with it.’”

Although ABC won’t officially announce the Fall 2011 cast of “Dancing With the Stars” until Monday night, the blogosphere has been speculating for weeks about which celebs will compete for the hideous mirror ball trophy.
Names tossed around include Chaz Bono, Ron Artest, Snooki, Rob Kardashian and Tiffani Thiessen, though some have offered quick denials.
Here’s the speculative list making the rounds today:
1 – David Arquette, actor and frequent Howard Stern guest.
2 – Ron Artest, Los Angeles Lakers forward whose wife, Kimsha, is currently starring in VH1’s “Basketball Wives LA”.
3 – Chaz Bono, (born Chastity, daughter of Sonny and Cher), and the subject of OWN documentary series “Becoming Chaz,” which chronicled his life following sex reassignment surgery.
4 – Elisabetta Canalis, model (but more importantly, George Clooney ex-girlfriend).
5 – Kristin Cavallari, “The Hills” protagonist and ex-fiancee of Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler.
6 – Nancy Grace, Headline News commentator who made headlines with her exhaustive coverage of the Casey Anthony trial.
7 – Rob Kardashian, of E!’s “Keeping Up With the Kardashians” and brother of Kim, etc.
8 – Ricki Lake, actress and former talk show host
9 – J.R. Martinez, Iraq war veteran and actor on ABC’s “All My Children”.
10 – Ryan O’Neal, actor and recent star of OWN’s “Ryan & Tatum: The O’Neals”, trying to mend his relationship with daughter Tatum.
11 – Chynna Phillips, singer and actress.
12 – Hope Solo, U.S. women soccer team’s goalkeeper.
