A memorial for United Flight 93 is being dedicated on Saturday at the rural Pennsylvania field where the hijacked plane crashed on Sept. 11, 2001. There were forty passengers and crewmembers on United Flight 93 that died on Sept. 11, 2001. They fought back terrorists on the plane who were planning to crash the plane into a Washington, D.C., landmark (possibly the U.S. Capitol or the White House). The ceremony will be attended by hundreds of victims’ relatives of the 40 passengers and crew members who died. The ceremony will also mark the beginning of construction on the 62 million dollars memorial building. The world is giving honor to the passengers who died on United Flight 93. Their family members visited the site on Friday. They read the guestbook and viewed the many mementos left by people from all over the world who have come to pay their respects. As this happened, many relatives shed some tears. They celebrated the spirit of the guestbook — a rare feeling that people from vastly different walks of life had come together. Lorne Lyles, whose wife, CeeCee Ross Lyles, was a flight attendant said: “Just to see the outpouring from all over the world is touching. You really do have some caring people in the world.” On Friday, Secretary of the Interior Ken Salazar said that while $52 million has been raised for the memorial, 10 million dollars more is needed to build a visitors center and to finish landscaping. Vice President Joe Biden and former Presidents George W. Bush and Bill Clinton are among the dignitaries expected to attend, the Associated Press reports. Grammy Award-winning musician Sarah McLachlan is scheduled to perform. “If not for the heroes onboard United 93, who challenged the hijackers and forced them to abandon their plan, it is quite possible that the Capitol, and the people working inside it, might not be here today” – House Speaker John Boehner said in a news release last week, announcing that he planned to attend the ceremony.

US intelligence officials said they had detected a potential terrorist plot timed to coincide with the tenth anniversary of the September 11 attacks.
Security is to be heightened in New York City and Washington, DC, after a “specific, credible but unconfirmed” threat was discovered, according to a statement issued by the Department of Homeland Security.
ABC News reported that officials believe the alleged plot was initiated by the new al-Qaeda chief, Ayman al-Zawahiri, who pledged to avenge the death of Osama bin Laden earlier this year.
Janice Fedarcyk, FBI Assistant Special Agent, said – “al Qaeda has shown an interest in important dates and anniversaries. In this instance it is accurate that there is credible, specific but unconfirmed information.”
President Barack Obama was briefed on the information earlier on Thursday and requested that counterterrorism officials step up their response to the suspected threat – according to White House spokesmen.
It is understood that three people who recently entered the country, one of them a US citizen, are urgently being investigated by security officials over a potential plot to detonate vehicle bombs, possibly on bridges or tunnels.
Early reports indicated that attention was being focused on two missing rental trucks in Kansas City, Missouri. But these were later said to have been discovered and ruled out as a threat.
Notes seized in the US raid on the Pakistani hideout of Osama bin Laden, the former al-Qaeda leader, in May, indicated that the terrorist network had discussed the possibility of attacks to coincide with Sunday’s anniversary. A strike against American trains was suggested.
Details of the alleged new threat (which officials stressed had not been corroborated) are thought to have emerged from “chatter” in recent days between suspects under surveillance by US law enforcement and intelligence.

Disney’s ‘The Lion King 3D’ movie hits U.S. theaters soon. Fans of the animated classic are buzzing on Twitter about the upcoming release, discussing whether they’ll see it. This is totally understandable – Not everyone agrees that great movies need the 3D treatment.
Celebrities, however, turned out in droves to The Lion King 3D’s recent premiere at the El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood. Some (including former teen star Melissa Joan Hart) couldn’t resist the opportunity to let their kids discover the wonder that is Disney in all its glory.
While star-studded premieres certainly help to draw attention to new movies (or, in this case, revamped 3D versions of old movies), the real test will be whether average moviegoers will flock to see a film. Can ‘The Lion King 3D’ generate enough noise to ensure a box-office home run? If Twitter is any indication, probably so. Discussion of the movie hit a fevered pitch earlier tonight, with some users like @ZachTocchi, saying: “I’m not paying to go see Lion King in 3D… Why would I? I have the 2D version around here somewhere that I can watch for FREE.” Good point, but other Twitter users, like @JamesNEAitken, were thrilled about seeing The Lion King in 3D, calling the movie “the most epic, outstanding, life changing experience of my young life. I’m choked up already.”
Disney fans – Will you be seeing The Lion King in 3D when it’s released on September 16th? You can check out the official movie trailer below. Hakuna Matata!

Jessica Simpson might be getting a breast reduction before her wedding. But why would she want to get rid of something most women would consider a blessing?
Jess’ chest has made headlines since she first thrust herself into the teen music scene, where she faced some stiff competition in fellow pop stars trying to ooze sex appeal like Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera. However, Jess tried to separate herself from those two by dressing more conservatively and focusing on showcasing her big voice.
It’s not surprising that Jess tried to downplay her sex appeal at first – she’s a devout Christian who actually tried to start her career singing Christian songs, much like her fellow busty pop singer Katy Perry. Unfortunately, she was deemed too sexy to use her voice to praise Jesus.
Jessica Simpson says that she used to cry in sixth grade because she was the first girl in her class that had to wear a bra and was upset that she looked so different from her skinny friends. Like Katy Perry, she also considered strapping her breasts down in an effort to hide them.
On top of everything else, Jess has been plagued by breast implant rumors for much of her career. So since being well-endowed has had such a negative effect on her life, she might see getting a breast reduction as a way to feel better about herself. Jessica Simpson also still has her sixth grade mentality – she reportedly thinks that getting a breast reduction will make her look smaller all over.

Holiday to honor American workers got started at the local level in the 1880′s.
When the Labor Day holiday began is well documented.
Who first suggested the holiday isn’t as clear-cut.
The Labor Day holiday was first proposed in 1882, according to the U. S. Department of Labor’s website.
Some historians say Peter McGuire, the general secretary of the Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners and a co-founder of the American Federation of Labor, was first to suggest a day to honor those “who from rude nature have delved and carved all the grandeur we behold.”
However, many historians credit Matthew Maguire, a machinist, with first suggesting the holiday.
They say Maguire, who later became secretary of Local 344 of the International Association of Machinists in Paterson, N.J., proposed the holiday in 1882 while serving as secretary of the Central Labor Union in New York.
Either way, the Central Labor Union adopted a Labor Day proposal that year and appointed a committee to plan a demonstration and picnic.
The first Labor Day was celebrated on Tuesday, Sept. 5, 1882, in New York City under the guidance of the Central Labor Union.
A second Labor Day was observed a year later on Sept. 5, 1883, in New York.
In 1884, the labor union selected the first Monday of September as the day to celebrate Labor Day. It urged other municipalities to observe a “workingmen’s holiday” on that same date.

One of the moves the Patriots made yesterday to get down to the NFL-mandated roster limit of 53 players was releasing safety Brandon Meriweather, the team’s first-round draft pick in 2007.
Though Meriweather played in his second straight Pro Bowl at the end of last season, there have been rumblings that there would be some sort of move made with him almost since training camp began.
However, once New England cut James Sanders (the quiet, highly respected elder statesman of the unit) on Monday, it appeared Meriweather might be staying because the club had so little experience at the position.
But, clearly, the Patriots were ready to move on from the 27-year-old (who never missed a game in his time with the team) starting 40 of 64 regular-season contests.
The Patriots did little to quiet the talk of their unhappiness with Meriweather during training camp by bringing in free agent Dashon Goldson for a workout (and offering him a contract, though Goldson opted to re-sign with the 49ers) and having veteran Darren Sharper, an All-Pro each of the last two seasons, in for a workout.
Then there were the days toward the end of camp when Meriweather saw the majority of his snaps with the first-team defense go to Sergio Brown. Thursday night, in the preseason finale against the Giants, Meriweather didn’t take the field on defense until after halftime; instead, Josh Barrett, getting his first game action for New England, started the game with Patrick Chung in the defensive backfield. Brown came on when Barrett came off in the first half.

A 61-year-old college junior in Alabama said he will become the oldest man to play football with a National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics team.
Alan Moore (who will turn 62 in February) said he left school in 1968 to fight in Vietnam and he decided to return to college and try out for football after he recently watched his old team, Jones Community College in Mississippi, play – The Birmingham (Ala.) News reported Friday.
Moore said he found a new school, and a football team, at Holmes Community College, also in Mississippi, and he learned after his sophomore year that he was eligible to play in the NAIA.
Moore transferred to Faulker University in Montgomery, Ala., and he will take to the field as a place kicker for the team when the season starts Sept. 10.
“Faulkner has been – I can’t even explain it – they’ve embraced the whole thing” – Moore said. “You look at it, it’s like, from what I’m told, I’m the oldest person to play. To bring that to Faulkner, doesn’t take just me. It takes coaches (and) the institution.”
