Former Colombian national team goalkeeper Miguel Calero died Tuesday in Mexico City, a day after he was declared brain dead. He was 41.
Calero (who spent most of his playing career with Pachuca in the Mexican league) had been hospitalized since Nov. 28 after thrombosis in his arm caused a blood clot to reach his brain. He was later placed on life support.
“Miguel Calero was a football player who left his mark on a great era in the history of Club Pachuca” – the team said in a statement.
Calero retired as a player from the Mexican league on September 29, 2011 after suffering a venous thrombosis in his left arm. With Pachuca, he won three titles. He played for the Colombian national team from 1995-2007.

The future king and his beautiful bride surprised Queen Elizabeth and her subjects Monday with the news that the couple is expecting an heir to the British throne.
Prince William and his wife Kate had to spill the beans that she was preggers after Kate became violently ill at her family’s home and William took her to a London hospital.
There, Kate was diagnosed with hyperemesis gravidarum, a severe form of morning sickness that affects one in 50 women, and occurs more often when moms-to-be are expecting twins.

A worried-looking William later left King Edward VII Hospital and hopped into a waiting car without a word to the army of reporters camped outside.
He had only told the queen and his dad, Prince Charles, the news Monday shortly before the public announcement at 4:01 p.m. London time. Prince Harry, who is serving in Afghanistan, was told by email – British papers reported.

Zig Ziglar (86) the consummate salesman who built a lucrative motivational empire, died Wednesday of pneumonia at his home in Plano, Texas, a family spokeswoman said.
With an aim at helping people achieve success in their careers and personal lives, in addition to a focus on Christianity, Ziglar was a prolific speaker who appeared at events alongside world leaders – including several U.S. presidents and former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher.
Ziglar’s philosophy focused on positivity and leading a balanced life and resulted in a multimillion-dollar company featuring personal appearances, seminars, book sales and audiovisual recordings.

Looks like she’s in trouble once again.
Lisa Robin Kelly (who starred as Topher Grace’s sister on “That ’70s Show”) was arrested on Monday night (November 26), after reportedly getting into a fight with a 61-year-old man, who has been identified as her husband.
According to TMZ – the 42-year-old and the male were jailed in North Carolina following the violent incident at their home, in which they allegedly assaulted each other.
There were reportedly no injuries and neither alcohol nor drugs were involved in the altercation. Both Kelly and her alleged spouse are still in custody.
This is the second arrest for Kelly this year, who was busted for domestic abuse in March and pled guilty to a DUI charge in North Carolina in November 2010.

The photos are haunting reminders of how young she was – just 23 years old – at the time of her early death Saturday. A photo of her with three friends was just uploaded on October 9, while her profile photo is not time-stamped.

Justin Bieber was named favorite artist of the year Sunday, beating out Rihanna, Katy Perry, Maroon 5 and Drake for the top prize at the American Music Awards. It was his third award of the night.
The 18-year-old teen idol pulled his mother, Pattie Malette, onstage to help him accept the award. “This is my mom” – he said. “She’s little, but she’s beautiful.” He thanked her for believing in him.
Bieber won the very first award of the night (favorite pop/rock male artist) and he accepted with the comment – “I want to say this is for all the haters who thought that I was just here for one or two years. I feel like I’m going to be here for a very long time.”
When he returned to the stage to claim his award for favorite pop/rock album – for his “Believe”, he corrected what he saw as an oversight and thanked his long-time mentor, Usher, among others.

McKayla Maroney is not impressed–and neither is President Barack Obama.
Gymnast McKayla Maroney (who won a gold medal with her team at the Summer Olympics but famously scowled when she had to settle for silver in the vault – an event in which she was heavily favored) visited Obama in the White House–and they both paid tribute the face Maroney put on that launched an internet meme. The White House tweeted the photo today.

That New York prosecutors are dropping heroin possession charges against the daughter of rocker Jon Bon Jovi, citing a state law that prohibits charging people who overdose and those who come to their aid.
All criminal charges against 19-year-old Stephanie Bongiovi and a 21-year-old male who called for help after she OD’d were dropped thanks to a recently-passed good Samaritan law – the New York Daily News reported.
Bongiovi was charged with possession of heroin, marijuana and drug paraphernalia after emergency personnel were called to her dorm room at Hamilton College in Clinton, N.Y.

The magazine’s 2012 Sexiest Man Alive is Alabama-bred heartthrob Channing Tatum.
The handsome actor modestly says his first thought when he heard he won was “Y’all are messing with me.”
The 32-year-old is married to actress Jenna Dewan-Tatum. Tatum is currently training to play an Olympic athlete in next year’s “Foxcatcher.”
Tatum follows Bradley Cooper – who was last year’s People’s Sexiest Man Alive.
