Kanye West and Kim Kardashian a couple

Kim Kardashian is technically still a married woman, but it looks as if she’s rebounding from her 72-day fling with wedded bliss by spending some time with the one and only Kanye West.
A report Thursday at www.tmz.com revealed that the ‘Keeping Up with the Kardashians’ star and spotlight-craving hip-hop artist spent Wednesday evening together in New York City and saw ‘The Hunger Games.’ The news came just hours after new West single ‘Theraflu’ was leaked online. On the track, West opens up about falling in love with the reality TV queen at the same time she was falling for New Jersey Nets forward Kris Humphries.
As of Thursday afternoon, Humphries hadn’t responded to the heartbreaking news. Also as of Thursday afternoon, cable network E! hadn’t yet revealed any plans for a TV special to mark the Kim-Kanye love connection.

Keith Olbermann vs Current TV

Keith Olbermann said he “screwed up” by taking a job with Current TV, but he plans to make the channel pay for firing him.
In Olbermann’s first TV interview since he was dismissed last week by Current, he was asked by David Letterman to assess his chances of getting any money due him. After reportedly signing a five-year, 50 million dollars contract with Current, he was there less than a year.
Olbermann referred back to Conan O’Brien’s legal battle with NBC over “The Tonight Show,” which ended with a reported $45 million exit settlement for O’Brien. “She’s my lawyer” – Olbermann said, smiling.
Entertainment attorney Patricia Glaser represented O’Brien during his severance fight.
During his appearance Tuesday on CBS’ “Late Show,” Olbermann compared himself to an expensive chandelier that ended up without a good home because of problems at Current — and his failure to see them.
“I screwed up really big on this. Let’s just start there” – Olbermann said. But he wasn’t the only one, he indicated, offering a home-building analogy.

Storms and tornadoes‎ in Dallas

Tornadoes have been violently spinning in the Dallas-Forth Worth area are collapsing roofs, ripping down power lines and tossing trailers around like toys – authorities say.
Weather service advisories issued Tuesday said storm spotters and radar shows separate “large and extremely dangerous” tornadoes south of Dallas and Fort Worth. The National Weather Service reported that as of 2pm CDT, DFW International Airport was in a direct path of a tornado.
The weather service says “considerable damage” has been reported near Cleburne, south of Fort Worth, and Lancaster, south of Dallas. Local television footage shows overturned and smashed semi-trailers on the ground in the southern portion of Dallas County. Dallas Police spokeswoman Sherri Jeffrey says twisters also have caused damage in the city limits.

Kentucky Wildcats win NCAA Title

They could have started to play ‘My Old Kentucky Home’ way early last night. Ashley Judd could have turned to Jay-Z and planned the after-party in the first half.
What Kentucky did not dunk, it blocked. What the Wildcats did not affect, they at least sent a signal that trouble was looming.
Kansas coach Bill Self had a resigned look on his face way before halftime. He had stolen his championship against John Calipari’s Memphis team 4 years before. He would always have that. He wasn’t getting this and he knew it when UK started raining in threes.
Kansas’ defense had been great during its last four second halves, holding Purdue, North Carolina State, North Carolina and Ohio State to just 24,2 percent shooting. The Jayhawks were going to have to pitch a shutout in the last second half of this season.
When Kentucky started playing the clock instead of the game, Kansas had a chance, closing to within five points as the clock ticked toward 60 seconds, the Mario Miracle lingering out there.
Alas, there would be no seminal Superdome championship moment like Michael Jordan’s jumper from the corner, Keith Smart’s baseline game-winner, Chris Webber’s timeout or Hakim Warrick’s block.
This looked for a long time like Secretariat in the Belmont Stakes, Chic Anderson’s proverbial ‘tremendous machine.’ This was Kentucky’s season from November to April. When it was over, it was the school’s eighth national championship, second only to UCLA’s 11. If this team stayed together, which it definitely will not, you could mark up No. 9 next season.

ACM Awards 2012 and Taylor Swift

There was little surprise when Taylor Swift won entertainer of the year at The Academy of Country Awards on Sunday night — except maybe in how little surprise the 22-year-old sensation showed when her name was called.
Swift displayed none of her normal expressions of astonishment after winning the academy’s top honor for the second year in a row. And, in fact, neither did her competitors, who gracefully if grimly acknowledged her as she hugged her way to the stage. With millions of albums sold and millions of new fans turned on to country music, and turning out to vote for her, the award had the feel of a coronation.
“She deserved it” – fellow nominee and show co-host Blake Shelton said. “When those announcements came out who was nominated, I remember saying right then: I don’t think I said I hope Taylor wins because I hoped I would win, but Taylor deserves it. I don’t think there is anyone with half a brain that would say otherwise. She has done a lot for us in country music. We are lucky enough in country music to call her one of us. But I am always going to make fun of her in my monologues so she might as well get used to that.”
Miranda Lambert and the duo of Jason Aldean and Kelly Clarkson were the top winners with two trophies each and their early victories overshadowed Swift initially. Lambert took her third consecutive female vocalist award, and was matched by husband Shelton, who ended Brad Paisley’s five-year run in the male vocalist category. She also won album of the year for a record-tying third time for “Four the Record.” Aldean and Clarkson won single record and vocal event of the year for their steamy duet “Don’t You Wanna Stay.”

Earl Scruggs dies at age 88

Earl Scruggs (who died Wednesday at age 88) was the banjo player of his time, right? Right. He defined the sound of a bluegrass band with his banjo style, right? Right. A bluegrass band without a Scruggs-style banjo isn’t a bluegrass band, right? It may be a country band, a folk band or some kind of jazz band, but it’s not a bluegrass band, is it? Right about that, too.
You’d think transforming the way people worldwide play, perceive and enjoy one instrument would be enough of a contribution for one musician. But with musicians as inspired as Scruggs, peeling back the sparkling outer layer often reveals more glowing layers within.
In Scruggs’ case, when you gently peel back the banjo layer of his musical persona, you find a guitar player as impressive as the banjo picker, as well as a gospel singer the equal of any in the finest Southern traditional quartet.
Scruggs’ finger-picked guitar (which often came front and center in the Foggy Mountain Boys’ religious numbers) was memorably powerful and fluid. Check it out here on this late-40′s Flatt & Scruggs recording of “God Loves His Children.” Bluegrass and acoustic musicians love to listen to and study his guitar work, which is easily the equal of his banjo playing in its sheer power, its creative noting and syncopation, rich tone and fluidity.

A spoof of a 1970′s TV newsroom from San Diego, the film also starred Steve Carell, Paul Rudd, David Koechner, Fred Willard and Christina Applegate.
It grossed ?56m at the box office and introduced catchphrases like “You stay classy, San Diego” and “I love lamp”.
