With Alex Rodriguez’s fate yet to be decided by Major League Baseball, the Yankees third baseman is headed to Trenton.
The Yankees announced Thursday that Rodriguez will play rehab games with the Double-A Trenton Thunder Friday night and Saturday night. Whether Rodriguez actually will play in those games is in question, though – as MLB is on the verge of announcing disciplinary action in the Biogenesis probe.
It remains uncertain whether Rodriguez will make a deal with MLB or appeal expected severe punishment.

Embarrassed Eagles receiver Riley Cooper stood fittingly with his back to a wall outside the team’s training complex press room Wednesday night, apologizing for a racial epithet used after a confrontation with an African American security guard working a June 8 Kenny Chesney concert.
The six-minute, 45-second apology – which followed a Twitter apology – was only the beginning for Cooper, who was fined an undisclosed amount by the team and now awaits word on whether the NFL will tack on more discipline.
The receiver said he intended to apologize later to his teammates, many of whom are African American, following a 7 p.m. walk-through practice.

Some people still recognize the colors purple and gold. But one very memorable player won’t be wearing them anymore.
Metta World Peace was officially waived Thursday by the Lakers via the NBA’s one-time amnesty provision.
World Peace (33) was dropped in a purely cost-cutting move by the Lakers, who stand to have about 23 million dollars erased from their ledger with luxury-tax charges included, although they still have to pay World Peace his 7,7 million dollars salary for the 2013-14 season.
