Celebrating of Hannukah 2010

Today is the first day of Hannukah. Know a better way to celebrate it besides watching the Happy Hanukkah song by Adam Sandler? Well, Mister Sandler has some healthy competition including unique video called “Candlelight”.
Sung by a capella group that gets to the beat Chanukah style, the song is catch, tells the story of celebration and can be watched by anyone to be appreciated. Based on Taio Cruz’s “Dynamite”, the story is told not just by the lyrics. But also the little scenes in between the Brady Bunch type set up of singers.
The first day of Hannakah is a sacred time for many. There is nothing better in sharing the celebration of others than by sharing a little bit of time to enjoy life. Being it is half Hannukah and half entertainment, you might really enjoy it.

Broadway’s ‘Spider-Man’

This past Sunday, the public got its first look at Broadway’s long-anticipated musical take on ‘Spider-Man.’ The show has an incredible pedigree: written and directed by ‘The Lion King’s’ Julie Taymor, with a score by U2′s Bono and The Edge. But Sunday’s preview did not go well. Judgment was harsh and, thanks to the Internet, swift. ‘Spider-Man’ officially opens January 11th, but as Jeff Lunden reports, it’s tough being a high-profile work in progress in the Internet age.
Jeff Lunden: The tweets started just before the curtain rose 24 minutes late on the first preview of “Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark,” and continued during the show. Quote, “Spider-Man musical preview.
Glitch stops show mid-first act. Actress suspended above stage for five minutes now,” unquote.
And for the next several hours during the show, which stopped four more times for technical difficulties, and the next day, on blogs and in newspapers, ‘Spider-Man’ was sliced, diced, dissected and declared dead on arrival. All on the basis of its very first public showing.

Juan Manuel Marquez vs. Michael Katsidis

The Main Event of the evening is a lightweight showdown between legendary Mexican boxer Juan Manuel Marquez vs. tough Greek-Australian slugger Michael Katsidis. Marquez is already looking onto a future fight with his long time rival Manny ‘Pacman’ Pacquiao, but Katsidis is no pushover and always comes to fight, his high pressure style combined with power punching makes Katsidis a very live underdog.
The second bout before the Main Event is the return of undefeated Haitian-American WBC welterweight champion Andre Berto, who had to withdraw from his previous fight with Shane Mosley to help the people of Haiti after they suffered a devastating earthquake that took the lives of many Haitians. Should Berto get past the hard hitting Freddy Hernandez on Saturday night, he becomes a viable opponent in the Manny Pacquiao sweepstakes should Floyd Mayweather Junior not accept a fight with Pacquiao.
The opening bout to start off the evening is a fight between WBA super bantamweight super champion Celestino Caballero versus Jason Litzau at 130-pounds. Caballero has been trying to land fights with the two top featherweight fighters Yuriorkis Gamboa and Juan Manuel Lopez. But he believes the fighters promoters don’t want put him in with either of the undefeated champions because he is too risky an opponent.

War of North Korea and South Korean

North Korea has ablaze at least 200 artillery shells at a South Korean island Yeonpyeong in the Yellow Sea today, killing 2 troops and gravely injuring at least 12 servicemen, according to the reports.  After that, strains between North and South Korea have boiled over, with shots being fired by both sides.
Tensions have been running soaring since prior in the year when the South charged the North of torpedoing one of its navy vessels and killing the 46 sailors on board. Just 2 days ago the North exposed the subsistence of an earlier secret uranium nuclear programme.
The South Korean military went on its uppermost state of alert, the defence ministry said and YTN statement that South Korean air force jets were knotted to the island.
Today, the government assembled a meeting the president’s war trench to settle on on a plan of action following the attack. F-16 fighter jets were rounded up and the state of military willingness was lifted to its uppermost level short of war.
A ministry spokesman told that ‘A North Korean artillery unit staged an illegal firing provocation at 2:34 pm (0534 GMT) and South Korean troops fired back immediately in self-defence’.
About 1.600 people live on the island, mainly fishermen drawn by the rich nearby waters, with a garrison of 1.000 South Korean sailors.

47th anniversary of Kennedy assassination

Today, exactly 47 years after the assassination of President John F. Kennedy, the museum that has chronicled that fateful day finds itself in a delicate balancing act.
On the one hand, The Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza wants to keep jogging the emotions of those old enough to recall the tragedy. On the other, it needs to find ways to explain the killing (using updated technology) to those who were yet to be born.
“We’re at a pivotal moment right now,” – said Nicola Longford, the museum’s executive director. “We’re changing from memory to history.”
The memories belong to recent visitors like Joe Decristofaro, 64, of Spring, Texas, who heard about the assassination as a high school student.
“It’s something that’s still very vivid to me,” – he said. “Walking through the museum made it all come back.”
