Patrick Chung in Dolphins vs Patriots

Patriots safety Patrick Chung has grabbed all the headlines today after his heroic performance against the Miami Dolphins lit up the NFL in a game that saw them win 41-14.
He was bullish and relentless in his play, always managing to find a weak link in the Dolphins’ field goal units while facing the adversity of much bigger players.
He wasn’t alone in his excellence though as the whole Patriots team raised their game to a new level, thwarting the Dolphins at every turn. They set a new record too. The first team ever to score from a run, pass, kickoff, blocked punt and a blocked field goal all in one game.
Patrick Chung has certainly shown his tenacity in the past having been fined $5000 for a late hit on Bengals receiver Chad Ochocinco in the season opener of September 2009, and later that season a further $7500 for a clash of helmets with Chad Henne.

Ryder Cup 2010

The rain plagued Ryder Cup golf matches in Wales not only were a problem to those of the ground in the UK, but to those wanting to watch the action on television here in The States.
It was bad enough that coverage stated at 2:30 am here on the East Coast, but with the rain all the scheduled coverage got thrown into flux.
NBC and ESPN spent a lot of money and time for this Ryder Cup coverage, but the crucial Monday singles matches were shown on USA. When NBC had the coverage they did a good job. Many now wonder how this train-wreck of a Ryder Cup will influence future televsion bidding of the event.

Zenyatta wins her record in U.S. horse racing

Zenyatta and Blind Luck employ the same crowd-pleasing, come-from-last-place style with one major difference – Zenyatta always gets to the wire first.
In the Grade 1 – $250,000 Lady’s Secret Stakes on Saturday at Hollywood Park, unbeaten Zenyatta became the first thoroughbred ever to win 19 consecutive races and became the sport’s richest female when she ran down Switch in the final yards for a victory by a half-length. The 1-to-10 favorite, Zenyatta finished 1 1/16 miles in 1:42.97 and earned $150,000 to increase her total to $6,404,580.
In the Grade 2, $750,000 Fitz Dixon Cotillion at Parx Racing in Bensalem, Pa., Havre de Grace got a big enough jump on Blind Luck to hold her off by a short neck.

Rick Sanchez fired from CNN

Rick Sanchez Fired – Is Jon Stewart The Definition Of A Bigot? Late last night it was announced that Rick Sanchez had been fired from CNN’s ‘Rick List,’ after making comments about Jon Stewart and Jews while appearing on Pete Dominick’s radio show.
Rick who also blasted Stephen Colbert and Keith Olbermann said during the interview: “I think to some extent Jon Stewart and [Stephen] Colbert are the same way. I think Jon Stewart’s a bigot.”
The comment prompted millions of people who heard the news to search for the definition of the word bigot. A bigot is a person who is intolerant to another group’s religious, racial, or political views.
Is Jon Stewart a bigot? Is Rick Sanchez a racist, since he also called Obama the cotton picking president few weeks ago?

Rutgers student Tyler Clementi’s death

Tyler Clementi, an 18-year-old freshman, was a gifted violinist, a quiet young man who kept things to himself. Sadly and tragically, his life was cut short. Clementi’s roommate, freshman Dharun Ravi, and another student, Molly Wei recorded a private moment between Clementi and another man, uploaded the video to the internet, sharing the intimate and private life of Clementi.
In great distress at this becoming knowledge to the world, Clementi took his own life, jumping off the George Washington bridge into the Hudson River.
Before Clementi’ suicide, he left a message on the gay community message board two days after finding the video online.
‘He … saw me making out with a guy,’ – the message reads. ‘The school (probably) won’t do much of anything.’
Clementi attempted to speak to an adviser at his college, however what was actually done about this is unknown.

Debate beetween Jerry Brown and Meg Whitman

If you’re a Californian with over 20 years in the state, you don’t have to pay much attention to the video replays to know that Jerry Brown was light years ahead of Meg Whitman in Tuesday’s debate.
Simply put, Meg Whitman came off as a policy wonk with bad hair, whereas Jerry Brown appeared as an experienced elected official who knows how California works.
Take the exchange on the California Budget. Whitman talked about ideas, as in when she said that she would start the budget process earlier. But Brown talked specific actions beyond a start date.
Jerry said that he would have each legislator go through their budget and look for areas to cut. In short, former Governor Brown is more comfortable talking about how to make the California government work than Meg Whitman is.
On the subject of Illegal Immigration Meg Whitman’s problem of not understanding the system of California operation comes up again. Brown favors a path to legalization, whereas Meg Whitman does not.

NFL Bears Vs. Packers

Bears vs. Packers is in the books, as the boys from Chicago beat Green Bay 20-17.
We knew the Bears had an upper-echelon defense, but it would appear that the offense has truly improved. While they didn’t put up a staggering number of yards, Cutler and the offense turned the ball over only once, one of their Achilles’ Heels in 2009. Granted, the Packers dropped a couple of INTs, but the Bears offense moved the ball when they needed to.
Heading into tonight’s game, the Packers had the NFL’s highest scoring offense, averaging over 30 points per game. The Bears Tampa Cover-2 stymied Aaron Rodgers for most of the night, giving up a lot of the underneath stuff, but not allowing the big play. Other D-coordinators around the league will surely take notice.
Hester is sometimes overlooked (he hasn’t returned a punt for a TD in two years), but tonight he showed why he’s still one of the most explosive players in the league. He was the spark that ultimately led the Bears winning.
Brandon Jackson, who Packers brass gave their vote of confidence to after Ryan Grant went out for the season, finished tonight’s game with only 7 carries for 12 yards. Of course, that won’t be near the type of performance the Packers will need from their featured tailback, especially once the weather turns in Wisconsin.
McCarthy blew one of his team’s precious timeouts in the 4th quarter when he challenged a play that would obviously not be overturned. They were one timeout short at the end of the game, as the Bears were able to run the clock from 48 seconds to 8 before kicking their game winning field goal.

Ultimate Fighting Championship UFC 119 results

Frank Mir vs Mirko Cro Cop – Former heavyweight champion Frank Mir vs Mirko Cro Cop was a fight boring and no action, ended up being one for the history … with a single blow.
Frank Mir knocked the winner of the 2006 Pride Fighting Championships Mirko Cro Cop Filipovic with a knee in the third round in the main event of UFC 119 on Saturday at Conseco Fieldhouse in Indianapolis. Filipovic fell while missing only 58 seconds to finish the fight.
‘To be honest, it was a bit ugly [the fight],’ – Mir said. ‘But I think it is better to get an ugly win an ugly defeat.’
The two men spent most of the fight and neutralize sporadic trading punches at each other against the fence of the octagon. The fan’s bathed in boos because of little action in the fight. But then, in the final minute, Mir hit a left footer to Cro Cop and grabbed the head to tip of the knee that ended the fight. A couple of strokes on the canvas completely eliminated Croatian.
