Patriots and Vikings close to deal for Randy Moss

Feeling unwanted in New England, wide receiver Randy Moss had his agent call the Patriots [team stats] following Week 1 and ask for a trade, the Herald has learned.
The request caught coach Bill Belichick off-guard, but the Patriots have been discussing the possibility with several teams, sources say.
In the final year of a three-year, $27 million deal, Moss does not believe the Patriots will reach an agreement with him on an extension. The 33-year-old said this spring, “I don’t think I’m realistically in the future plans of the Patriots. But I’m not mad.”
A Fox Sports report indicated the Patriots and Vikings are “very close” on a trade for undisclosed compensation that would bring Moss back to where he first starred in the NFL and hook him up with old friend, quarterback Brett Favre. A source with knowledge of the discussions between the teams believes it is likely a deal is struck today.

The drama surrounding Randy Moss is back. But this time he didn’t say a word.
A day after Moss didn’t have a catch in a game for the first time since the 2006 season, rumors swirled the receiver is on the trading block and may be headed to Minnesota.
The Patriots and Vikings have been in trade talks for a while, and as of last night were close to a deal if Moss and the Vikings can agree on a contract extension, Jay Glazer of Fox Sports said on WEEI’s “Planet Mikey Show’’ last night.
A Patriots official responded by saying simply, “There’s no trade.’’ Efforts to reach Moss’s agent, Joel Segal, were unsuccessful.
The Vikings and Moss have yet to talk about a contract extension, but late last night ESPN cited sources saying the trade will be completed today.

There have been a few NFL trade rumors surfacing online recently, and they all seem to be pointing towards the Minnesota Vikings and the possible acquisition of wide receiver Randy Moss from the New England Patriots. It looks like a deal could be made pretty soon as well.
As reported by Tanner Thoms over at bleacherreport.com, several sources have claimed that a deal could well be happening sooner than people thought. Moss has appeared to struggle at times throughout this year, and went without a catch in Monday night’s game against the Miami Dolphins.
Moss was originally drafted by the Vikings back in 1998, and played with the side until he was traded to the Raiders in 2005. However, he only got to play with Oakland for one season, before he was traded to the New England Patriots and now it looks like he’s returning to the Vikings.
